THE ADVANTAGES OF A STEEL CONTAINER HOME

THE ADVANTAGES OF A STEEL CONTAINER HOME

Shipping containers are robust structural components that can withstand the loads of a structure, especially a single-family home or ADU

Deep ocean waves tossing and turning cargo ships can subject the containers to lateral loads far more than even the strongest recorded earthquake.

INNOVATIVE DESIGN

The ECO-TAINER home was designed to ensure effective ventilation systems that bring in fresh outdoor air and remove stale indoor air. This can involve natural ventilation through windows in each room and a large sliding door in the living area

The open floor plan that seamlessly integrates the living, dining, and kitchen spaces, offering a sense of openness and flexibility. By minimizing hallways, the home can maximize on usable space, promoting a clear configuration.

Solar Panel package is available to power energy efficient appliances and can provide energy year round with annual production of 7920 kWh.

WATER EFFICIENCY

The ECO-tainer home will feature water efficient plumbing fixtures to reduce overall water consumption in the bathroom and kitchen. To increase water supply, the home will feature a gray-water system to collect water to be repurposed to irrigate planters outside the container. Water efficient home appliances will be incorporated to reduce overall water consumption

AFFORDABILITY

Single-family homeowners can leverage their home equity to qualify funding to finance the project costs.

Homeowners can leverage new laws to build on their own property. The permitting process has been simplified and code restrictions have been reduced to further incentivize homeowners to build their own ADU structures.

Rental income is seen as an advantage to qualify for better loan offers at lower interest rates from mortgage-home lenders. The rent contributions from family renters can help offset initial construction costs while keeping rent affordable.
